Tauró Tigre Titella / Tiger Shark Puppet

Ara fa un any, per les festes del poble, l'Enric volia un nino molt feo d'un tauró TARONJA de les firetes.
Li vaig dir que ni parlar-ne perque, entre d'altres raons, nosaltres en podíem fer un de molt més guapo i que fos una titella. I l'hem fet.
Ha estat una coproducció nebot-tieta basada en els dibuixos de l'Enric (i les imatges de taurons de Google) i en la seva mà.
I de mica en mica amb molt fer i molt desfer el tauró va anar creixent.
Cada nou pas en el procés d'elaboració va ser aprovat pel destinatari. La mida, numero i ubicació de les aletes, el tipus de cua (que cada classe de tauró la té diferent...he après una de coses sobre los bitxos aquestos!)
Un dels moments claus en el procés va ser quan vam haver de decidir entre uns ulls anatòmicament correctes o uns més grans com si fossin de còmic, de tauró dolent. Va guanyar el tauró dolent.
I aquest mes, després d'un any de fer i desfer i de portar la titella de Lleida a Gimenells i de tornada, per fi l'hem acabat!
I és genial! I malvat.

A year ago during the Town Festival Enric wanted a very ugly orange plushie shark.
I told him I wasn't going to buy it for him because among other reasons, we could make one way better that that one, and a puppet to boot. And we have.
It has been a nephew-auntie coproduction based upon Enric's drawings (and Google's pictures of sharks) and his hand.
And step by step with a lot of doing and a lot of undoing the shark started growing.
Every new step on the way was approved by the owner-to-be. The size, number and position of the fins, the kind of tail ( each type of shark has a different type of tail, I've learnt a lot about these beasts)
One of the key moments of the whole process was when we had to decide between anatomically correct eyes or evil cartoon-like ones. Cartoons won.
And this month, after a year of crocheting and unravelling and of carrying the puppet from Lleida to Gimenells and back again, we've finished it!
And it is awesome! And evil.

titelles dia dos

Del segón dia de fer titelles per Avenue Q em va quedar molt clara una cosa: La combinació de cola de contacte i calor és maala maaaaaaaaalaaaaaaaa. A l'arribar a casa vaig estar una estona llarga sentada mirant a l'infinit.

Les titelles estan quedant molt be. Ja tenen mans, ulls, boca, cabells!!!!

Encara falta enganxar les mans amb el cap (posant-hi espatlles i braços al mig) acabant de folrar the furry ones i pintar-les.

El treball amb gomaescuma és molt interessant. molt. potser massa.

Diumenge vam fer titelles.
Estem preparant Avenue Q amb el grup de teatre de l'EOI i necessitem 6 titelles.
L'Oscar ens va ensenyar a fer-ne.
Amb cola (mmmmmmm cooolaaa) gomaespuma i tisores  vam aconseguir fer els caps de les 6 titelles. Diumenge que ve, els hi posarem cos.
Va ser molt interessant. Jo mai no havia fet titelles d'aquestes i estic aprenent moltes coses.

Last sunday we made puppets.
We're rehearsing Avenue Q with the EOI theatre group and we need 6 puppets.
Oscar came to teach us how to made them.
With glue (mmmmm gluuuueee), foam and scissors we made the 6 heads. Next Sunday, bodies.
It was very interesting. I had never made that kind of puppets and I'm learning a lot of things.

He fet una sirena.

Sense patró, només anar fent. Vaig començar montant els punts de la cadera, i a partir d'allí, anar fent, decidint on afegir punts i on treure'n, com fer les aletes de la cua o que fer amb el cabell.

Tot va començar ja fa uns mesos, quan la Clara em va preguntar si volia col·laborar amb un nou projecte teatral en solitari (seu) on el punt de mitja tindrà un cert pes dins de la dramatúrgia. Vaig dir-li que si encantada, i ara la Clara està aprenent a fer punt i jo fent els prototips de les titelles/ninos  per l'espectacle.
I el primer ha estat la sirena.
Vaig començar amb uns quants punts de ganxet, i els vaig utilitzar per montar els punts de mitja, així després podia tornar allí, desfer el ganxet, i seguir cap a l'altra banda fent el cos.

Des d'aquells punts, vaig augmentar per fer la "cadera" de la sirena i després vaig anar minvant cada cop més per fer la cua.
Els punts restants, dividits en dos grups han servit com inici de les aletes de la cua.
Després vaig aixecar els punts del muntatge provisional de ganxet, i minvar un altre cop per fer la cintura...( les sirenes tenen melic? la nostra de moment no), tot recte fins les espatlles on torna a minvar i, cos tancat i acabat. El cap està fet en un altra peça perque els colls fets a punt no tenen gaire estabilitat, és més eficaç fer dues peces i cosir el cap a puesto.

Els braços i els pits estan fets aixecant punts a puesto i treballats en rodó. Els braços són articulats al colze (unes quantes bastetes fan el colze) i el braç torna a minvar cap al canell, i creix de nou per fer la mà. Encara no sé si els polzes seràn necessaris, o sigui que de moment, només en té un, pobreta.Tampoc se si serà necessari que tingui cara, i per aixó no en té.

El cabell em va fer rodar el cap una mica, primer vaig pensar a fer-lo com el de les meves ninfes, la nayade i la dríade, però no em semblava adient. O sigui que vaig fer un trosset de teixit a "punto bobo" en un parell de blaus, el vaig remullar, i vaig deixar que s'eixugués. I després l'he desfet per a fer els rinxolets, cada volta un rínxol. Cada cabell de la capa de dalt està brodat a punt de cadeneta al cap de la nina. A la capa de sota, potser li afegiré uns quants més i estàn enganxats per la meitat amb un ganxet com si fos una catifa. I de moment, aixó és tot.

 Without a pattern, just free-form knitting. I've started by casting on the hip stitches, and from then on, I just kept going, deciding where to add stitches and where to decrease some, how to make the fins of the tail, or what to do about the hair.

It all started some months ago when Clara asked me if I'd like to help her with her new solo theatrical production, where knitting had some relevance. I accepted, delighted with the idea, and now she's learning to knit and I'm knitting the prototypes for the puppets/dolls that will be used in the show.

The first one I've made is the mermaid.

I started with a crochet provisional cast-on, that way I could start from the hip up and down, to knit the tail and the body.

From there on, I increased stitches to make her hip and decreased more and more for the tail. The remaining stitches divided into 2 groups have been the start for the two "fins" of the tail. From the crochet cast-on upwards I decreased again to form her waist ... (do mermaids have belly button? ours doesn't, for now) straight to her shoulders and then some more decreases. And, the body is done. Her head is knitted as another piece because knitted necks aren't stable, it's better to knit head and body separately and then sew them together.

Her arms and boobs are picked up and knit on the round from the body onwards. The arms are articulated (a bit of sewing makes an elbow) some more decreases for the wrist and some more increases for the hand. I still don't know if thumbs will be necessary, for now she's got just the one, poor thing. I don't know if a face will be necessary either, that's why she doesn't have one.

At first I wanted to crochet her hair, make it like the one I made for my nymphs, my naiad and my dryad, but it just didn't fit. So I knit a bit in garter stitch in two different tones of blue, blocked it, and then frog it: every row is a ringlet. Every ringlet of the upper layer is embroidered with chain stitch to the head. The layers below are attached with a crochet slip st made at the middle of the thread.
